The Union Minister of India Shri Jitendra Singh recently launched COVID BEEP, the first physiological parameter monitoring system for COVID-19 patients.
About COVID BEEP
- COVID BEEP is Continuous Oxygenation and Vital Information Detection Biomed ECIL ESIC Pod.
- It is the first indigenous wireless cost-effective parameter monitoring system.
- The COVID BEEP was developed by IIT Hyderabad and ESIC Medical College Hyderabad.
- It will greatly reduce transmission risk as it will help save resources such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Features
- The COVID BEEP incorporated non-invasive blood pressure monitoring, ECG monitoring and also respiratory monitoring.
What is the Vital Information in Medicine field?
- The vital information includes temperature, pulse, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
- Apart from these four vital signs, the fifth vital signs include pain, menstrual cycle, blood glucose level and oxygen saturation.
- The sixth vital sign refers to end tidal carbon dioxide, shortness of breath, Gait speed (walking speed) or delirium.
- Delirium is the disturbed state of mind that occurs due to intoxication, fever or restlessness.
