Driverless buses : శాన్‌ఫ్రాన్సిస్కోలో డ్రైవర్‌ లేని బస్సులు

• అమెరికాలోని శాన్‌ఫ్రాన్సిస్కో నగరం రోబో ట్యాక్సీలు, డ్రైవర్‌ లేని బస్సులతో ప్రయోగాలు మొదలుపెట్టింది. రవాణా, ప్రయాణికుల భద్రతాపరమైన సమస్యలు ఉన్నా నగరంలో రోబో ట్యాక్సీ సేవలను అనుమతించిన వారం రోజులకే అధికారులు డ్రైవర్‌ రహిత స్వయంచాలిత బస్సు సేవలకూ ఆమోదం లభించింది. 
• ఈ విద్యుత్తు బస్సు శాన్‌ఫ్రాన్సిస్కో నగరం వద్ద సముద్రంలోని ట్రెజర్‌ ఐలాండ్‌లో ప్రయోగాత్మకంగా మొదలైంది. 2,000 మంది నివసించే ఈ దీవిలోని నివాస ప్రాంతాలను మార్కెట్‌ ప్రాంతంతో కలిపే ఈ బస్సులో ప్రయాణాలు ఉచితం. 
• ఒకేసారి 10 మంది ప్రయాణికులను తీసుకెళ్లే ఈ బస్సు ఉదయం 9 గంటల నుంచి సాయంత్రం 6 గంటల వరకు తిరుగుతుంది. డ్రైవర్‌ కానీ, స్టీరింగ్‌ వీల్‌ కానీ ఉండని ఈ బస్సులో రిమోట్‌ కంట్రోల్‌తో ఒక అటెండెంట్‌ మాత్రం ఉంటారు. అత్యవసర పరిస్థితిలో బస్సును ఆపడమే కాకుండా ప్రయాణికులకు ఆయన భరోసా ఇస్తాడు. 
• డ్రైవర్‌ రహిత బస్సు కన్నా ముందు కాలిఫోర్నియా అధికారులు శాన్‌ఫ్రాన్సిస్కో నగరంలో క్రూజ్‌, వేమో అనే రెండు రోబో ట్యాక్సీ కంపెనీలను అనుమతించారు. వీటిలో క్రూజ్‌ సంస్థ జనరల్‌ మోటార్స్‌ కంపెనీ అనుబంధ సంస్థ.

Driverless buses in San Francisco

• The US city of San Francisco has started experimenting with robot taxis and driverless buses. Despite the safety issues of transport and passengers, within a week of allowing robo-taxi services in the city, the authorities have approved driverless automatic bus services.
• This electric bus started as an experiment at Treasure Island in the ocean near the city of San Francisco. The bus, which connects the residential areas of the island with a population of 2,000 to the market area, is free.
• This bus which carries 10 passengers at a time runs from 9 am to 6 pm. There is no driver or steering wheel in this bus, but there is only one attendant with a remote control. He not only stops the bus in case of emergency but also reassures the passengers.
• Before the driverless bus, California officials allowed two robo-taxi companies, Cruise and Waymo, in the city of San Francisco. Among them, Cruze is a subsidiary of General Motors Company.
