- స్వాతంత్య్ర దినోత్సవాన్ని పురస్కరించుకొని కేంద్ర హోంమంత్రిత్వశాఖ దేశవ్యాప్తంగా ప్రతిభ కనబరచిన 954 మంది పోలీసు సిబ్బందికి పతకాలు ప్రకటించింది. ఇందులో తెలంగాణ పోలీసులకు 34 మెడళ్లు దక్కాయి. వీటిలో రెండు రాష్ట్రపతి ఉత్తమ సేవాపతకాలు, 22 శౌర్యపతకాలు (పోలీస్‌ మెడల్‌ ఫర్‌ గ్యాలంట్రీ), 10 సేవాపతకాలు (మెడల్‌ ఫర్‌ మెరిటోరియస్‌ సర్వీస్‌) ఉన్నాయి. 34లో 12 పతకాలు వామపక్ష తీవ్రవాదంపై పోరాడే గ్రేహౌండ్స్‌ విభాగానికి దక్కాయి.

34 medals for Telangana Police
- On the occasion of Independence Day, Union Home Ministry has announced medals to 954 police personnel who have shown merit in the country. In this Telangana police got 34 medals. These include two President's Uttam Seva Pataks, 22 Shaurya Pataks (Police Medal for Gallantry) and 10 Seva Pataks (Medal for Meritorious Service). 12 out of 34 medals went to the Greyhounds unit which fights left-wing extremism.
- In-charge of Greyhounds and Octopus Divisions (Additional DG, Operations) Vijaykumar and Sangareddy SP Ramanakumar were selected for the President's Uttam Seva Pataks.
- SP Bhaskaran and DSP K. Purushotham Reddy of the Special Intelligence Branch (SCIB), which deals with Left-wing extremism, have been selected for the Shauryapataka. Fireman Srinivas will receive the Fire Service Medal.
